What is Parish Membership?

According to the Uniform Community Regulations: Membership in the Community requires individuals to be at least eighteen years old, baptized or chrismated according to church rites, and to adhere to the faith's teachings and community regulations. Fulfilling financial obligations is necessary, and non-Orthodox spouses can become Associate members with limited privileges. Members are expected to apply Orthodox principles to their lives, attend services regularly, contribute to the community's welfare, and seek personal spiritual growth. In return, they have the right to participate in community discussions and voting, and may hold positions in community administration. (UCR, ARTICLE V, Sections 1, 2, 3, 4 and6).

Τι σημαίνει Μέλος;

Σύμφωνα με τους Ομοιόμορφους Κανονισμούς Κοινοτήτων: Κάθε Μέλος οποιασδήποτε Κοινότητας της Ιεράς Αρχιεπισκοπής Καναδά πρέπει να είναι τουλάχιστον δεκαοκτώ ετών, να είναι βαπτισμένο ή κεχρισμένο στην Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία, σύμφωνα με την Τάξη και να τηρεί τις διδαχές της πίστης και τους κανονισμούς της κοινότητας. Η εκπλήρωση των οικονομικών υποχρεώσεων είναι απαραίτητη, και οι μη Ορθόδοξοι σύζυγοι μπορούν να γίνουν Επίτιμα μέλη με περιορισμένα προνόμια. Τα μέλη αναμένεται να εφαρμόζουν τις αρχές της Ορθοδοξίας στην ζωή τους, να παρακολουθούν τις τακτικά τις λειτουργίες, να συμβάλλουν στην ευημερία της κοινότητας και να επιδιώκουν την προσωπική πνευματική ανάπτυξή τους. Τότε μόνον έχουν το δικαίωμα να συμμετέχουν σε συνελεύσεις της κοινότητας και να ψηφίζουν, καθώς και να κατέχουν θέσεις στΔιοικητικό Συμβούλιο. (ΟΚΚ, ΑΡΘΡΟ V, Τμήματα 1, 2, 3, 4 και 6).
