Human beings have the privilege and honor of expressing their reverence for God through prayer. They can outwardly manifest the devotion that fills their souls either alone, through personal prayer, or together with others, through communal prayer—especially in the context of worship. Worship is the public prayer of our Church, in which we express our reverence to God through words and deeds, and receive Divine Grace. When we participate in the worship of our Church with devotion and attentiveness, our faith is strengthened, and we draw nearer to Divine Grace. We live within a celebratory atmosphere, we are united with one another, and above all, we become one body and one spirit with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Liturgics refers to the study that deals with the worship practices of our Church. Since worship occurs in a specific place, time, and manner, Liturgics is divided into three sections:
The vital study of Liturgics provides with the opportunity to enter the sacred church and reverently observe everything that takes place there. To truly follow the sacred services, and especially the Divine Liturgy, with its great Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. In this way, one is be able to satisfy the soul’s thirst to worship the one true God. This knowledge and understanding of the treasure of Divine Worship is what brings us closer to a living communion with the Head of the Church, our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
